FINALLY DONE! GLASS HOUSES

Fifteen years ago I was facing a dilemma. How do you serve as pastor to a group of folks who on one side of the house are either fighting or looking for something to fight about; and on the other side of the house are active in the KKK? It didn’t take long to identify the need as the willingness to be reconciled to one another. This is accomplished through forgiveness.

This need caused me to start a study on forgiveness as it is taught in Scripture. It didn’t take long to realize that the way it was taught is a far-sight from the way it is practiced. The more I studied, the more I found. The more I found the more burdened I became. It is not unusual for me to attempt to write it out when I’m trying to sort through a lot of information. That’s what happened here; I started writing.

Fast forward 15 years. It is a peculiar feeling to be holding the book “Glass Houses: The Practice of Biblical Forgiveness”. It has been a long trail with a number of bumps, detours, and ambushes along the way. It is an humbling experience as I remember the many “discussions” I had to attempt to untangle. In the real world it called an “argument”, when it’s about church doings, it’s called a “discussion.”

If you feel led to read what finally washed out as the final product, I would be interested in hearing what you think. Let me know.

Standing in the Gap

There are many who are standing in the gap on foreign soil protecting our liberty to pray and worship as we choose without fear of reprisal. We need to remember these during this Easter Season. Posted below is a comment I received from "Ramblings". Please pray for Max and if you feel led, drop him an Email and encourage him in these difficult times.

"My name is Shannow The Jerusalem Man, (Max) I am a retired U.S. Marine I currently work in Northern Iraq as a security specialist. I have been a Christian since I was 17 however I have not rode for the brand till 1995 15 APRIL. I found your website as I have just recently joined the CAS club. I have found 2 such sites as yours and I truly am happy that I have. Anyway long way around the tree, I hope that you have a great Easter Service at your local body and I wish I could attend. I too find Easter to be a grand celebration unfortunatly I will have a limited celebration here this year as I am in a Moslem country. I guess reading your post brought home how far away I am again from all that I hold dear. So if you get around to it please pray for me and my family.
Sincerly Max Woodside

Pray for the family of June Evans

The Scripture teaches us that it is the Lord who numbers our days on this earth. Knowledge of this fact does not lessen our loss or mitigate our grief when a loved one's days are completed. Last night June Evans took that step into the presence of the Lord. Please lift up her family as they struggle with the trials of loss and the grief of saying good-by.

Starry Night

This past Saturday Prissy and I shot with the Thunder River Renegades in Magnolia, Texas. This is the home club for Starry Night and her sidekick Dutch Dave. We rejoiced at the good news of Starry's improvement. She is now home and is managing to take a few steps out of her wheelchair. We need to keep this family before the Throne of Grace. In His grace the Lord has brought her a far piece, much to His praise. In His grace He will bring her closer to him a little each day. Let us pray for her strength where there is weakness, her encouragement where there is despair and that she and Dave give Him all the praise. Remember Dutch Dave in your prayers also, as he continues to minister to her and care for her.

God is good -- all the time!

New to the Site - Dogie's Prayer Requests Blog

Howdy! Since reconstructing the site at cowboypreacher.com we've now added this new blog so that there is a place to post those praises and prayer requests of all the cowboys and cowgirls wanting to participate!

To do this, simply send Dogie your praise or request to his email at dogie@cowboypreacher.com and he will post it so that those mighty prayer warriors that visit here daily can be in prayer for you. We are excited about getting this blog in place so we can be about God's work in a great way.

I encourage you to use the "comments" hot link under each post to write a prayer or leave a comment.
